When you seeked validation
You didn't espy
When the river stopped flowing
Downstream
Silhouette of the castle
Grew claws, the choke hold
Tightening.
You were ebbing away,
Feet to haggard, but you ran.
Whatever pieces of a life left
Were lived scarcely.
