Big Gate.
I was born and raised in the south of Siberia, in Khakassia, a land rich in barrows, stone megaliths and petroglyphs.
It's no wonder that one of my favorite pastimes in my spare time is to search and photograph "silent witnesses of past ages".
Today I want to show two menhirs, bearing the name "Big Gate".
Menhirs open the entrance to the valley with mounds created in the beginning - the middle of the first millennium BC.
According to Khakass shamans, these menhirs are a kind of portal between the world of the living and the world of the dead.
The stone is lower and rounded symbolizes the feminine,
the rectangular stone symbolizes the masculine principle.
According to the legends of the Khakass, the female stone returns lost health, and the male stone fulfills desires.
