Wuddup Steem! My name is Chris and i do Infrared photography

in #photography7 years ago

My plan is to post my infrared photos and possibly gear/post processing info as i continue to explore infrared photography. I would greatly appreciate some criticism/questions.

I think infrared photography is super interesting and would love for others to become interested as well. Infrared photos may look heavily edited, but are usually edited only slightly. The crazy colors are the result of how infrared light and a converted camera sensor interact. Plants, especially, look super colorful in infrared. This is because there's a chemical needed for photosynthesis that strongly reflects infrared light. Here are some photos that i've taken so far:

3trees.jpg

These trees were outside of a dead mall in ohio. The mall was still open, but all of the stores were vacant. Made for a very eerie mall walking experience. The outside was pretty overgrown and unkempt which always yields some interesting infrareds. We ended up getting chased off by a mall cop on a segway....

This shot was taken at my university. Looks to me like the arizona iced tea design.....

Another shot from campus. The reflection off of the glass causes the trees to turn a slightly different shade (they would normally be the color of the grass in the foreground).

Thats all for now! will definitely be posting more soon. Cheers!

wow... i'm digging' it! Outstanding work! I've got to try customizing my old Sony. Do you recommend any instructional videos for that? Thanks

These pictures are stunning!!! Do you also have some black and white infrared?

No black and white as of yet. I've been focusing on getting the color infrared down. I have an 800nm filter thats begging for some use though.

Is it expensive to convert the camera?

its usually between $100-250 but you can do it yourself if you're brave. All you have to do is remove the ir blocking filter that sits on the sensor

Good shot and beautiful...I like the last photo the reflection 👍🏻...good ideas 💡

That is interesting and the photos are very cool.
Well done!

Big fan of this, looking forward to seeing more.

Hm... it does give a very different feel of the pictures taken in infrared emphasis. It's like you just stepped into another dimension.
