Travel destinations in India (Part - 1)

Ok today is my first blog on travel,so let it be a historical one😉😁

VICTORIA MEMORIAL HALL

The Victoria Memorial is a large marble building in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), West Bengal, India , which was built between 1906 and 1921. It is dedicated to the memory of
Queen Victoria (1819–1901) and is now a museum and tourist destination.

In January 1901, on the death of Queen Victoria,George Curzon and Viceroy of India at that time , suggested the creation of a fitting memorial. He proposed the construction of a grand building with a museum and gardens.
The memorial lies on the maidan (grounds) by the bank of the Hooghly River , near Jawaharlal Nehru road.

Yesterday me and some of my friends went there.On reaching there we saw two lions statues painted in white were at the opposite sides of the gate. Then we entered inside.
I could see a huge lush green garden surrounding the monument. There were many people all around including locals and tourists and the breathtaking view of this monument stood in front of my eyes.

Entering the place we were astounded by its beauty and its silence.Then we clicked a few photos of the monument and garden.After that we entered inside its museum. The museum was pretty large and well arranged. The museum contains historic things, posters, paintings, architectural models, written information, etc.The latest inclusion to it was the potraits of India's greatest Cinematographer Mr.Satyajit Ray. the dome above looks very amazing. It can take you an hour or more to go through all the things kept inside the museum. But the things are really interesting to see.

You are free to take photos and videos of the memorial and gardens but not when you enter inside the museum. You can even hangout or rest for a while in the gardens. Then we came out of the museum. We walked around all four sides of the museum and headed to our next.
