There’s no doubt about it that the winter is freezing, temperatures is below zero and winds are just freezing body.

But the whole city has covered itself with white blanket of snow. We often find our feelings of bitterness transform into ones of pure, unadulterated joy.

The most easily accessible hill station, was witnessing an unabated flow of tourists. People were seen frolicking on the road to enjoy the snowfall. Shops and restaurants were bustling with customers and families enjoying coffee and hot chocolate in the snow till late at night.

Snow is one of the prettiest things that isn't man made. It glistened in the sun and gives the illusion of soft clouds. It can vary from hard, icy snow to soft, powdered fluff.

“Snow falling soundlessly in the middle of the night will always fill my heart with sweet clarity,” wrote author Novala Takemoto. And even in our most stressful times, a fresh snowfall maintains an almost supernatural power to calm us down — mind, body and soul.

While the whitewash brought joys to many savouring the weather, others were left complaining about the inadequacies of the government and city authorities and the misery brought on by nature.

With over three feet of snow and more coming, connecting roads of the areas were blocked, restricting the movement of people.

Though the snow falling makes the mountains and streets even more beautiful which attracts the citizens but due to the massive influx of the tourists, problems are also faced at some points. Movement of traffic remains slow as the wet roads got slippery.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful aspects of snow’s existence is that it’s fleeting. Temperatures rise, the ground begins to defrost, and the former world we once knew covers the white blanket, making yet another fresh start for us to appreciate among the natural elements.
