Photography : Composition Leading Lines

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

Hey Steemians, hereby I want to 'take you' all with me in a follow-up blog on the first part of photography composition. In this Part II, I want to talk to you about

LEADING LINES & VIEWING AREA.

What do we mean when we talk about Lines? You can view lines in different ways. You can take it almost literally as it is, for example you get a picture in which you literally see lines through the photos. That is the case with the pictures below. The most literal sense of 'Lines' applies here to guide your eye through the photo.

But you can also let imaginary 'Lines' lead your eyes through your image. Where there is an empty space between two important parts of the photo where an invisible 'line' leads your eye from one part to the other.

Of which the picture below of Lex and Myla can be an example. Lex guides your eye through an imaginary line to Myla and Myla leads your eye through an imaginary line to the back of the photo that will lead to the grass path. We call this the imaginary lines.

But this picture also has to do with the VIEWING AREA. Whenever you are photographing, please make sure that you always keep free space in the direction of where your subject is looking at.

It would have looked very strange in this picture if I had left space behind Lex's back, then Myla would almost have come to the edge of the picture and Lex had, so to speak, knocked his nose.

Below here I have a photo where in one photo My dog Myla knocks her nose to the edge of the photo ... As you can see it does not have a good feeling to look at that picture. So in the second photo I have make a slightly different crop from the same photo. And now there is free space for Myla to run without knocking her nose to the edge of the photo. She actually can run around in the entire pictureframe ...

In this short blog I hope that you again have learned a little part in the big picture called 'Composition'.

Thank you for reading! If you like it, I would be very pleased if you leave a reply or resteem my post.
