Black-headed Gull 红嘴鸥
Black-headed gull (scientific name: Larus ridibundus), commonly known as "water pigeons", Its shape and color are similar to the pigeons, body length is 37-43 cm, with a wingspan of 94-105 cm long .Its weight is about 225-225 grams and has 32 years of life.
It has a red mouth and red foot , most of the feathers on the body are white, black feathers in tail .
black-headed gull is large in quantity, can be seen in many coastal ports,lakes in the world.
Generally live in rivers, lakes, reservoirs and bay.
Breeding in the western of tianshan mountains to the northwest of China and northeast of wetlands.
It live through winter in the east of China and these lakes,rivers and coastal area which is lies to the south of 32 degrees north latitude in China .
Staple food is fish, shrimp, insects, plants in water and discarded food by people .
According to Dr Wu who belongs to Cas kunming institute of zoology, 34 black-headed gulls carried monitoring data, from the satellite positioning device ,they can make sure that these black-headed gulls living through winter in KunMing ,YunNan Province ,China. They are from the WuBuSu lake and JiErJiSi lakebasin in the republic of Mongolia , south to the Russia's Lake Baikal and lake basin of BoSiTeng in Xinjiang China. And each year, the seagulls fly off Kunming and return to their destinations.

红嘴鸥（学名：Larus ridibundus），俗称“水鸽子”，体形和毛色都与鸽子相似，体长37-43厘米，翼展94-105厘米，体重225-350克，寿命32年。嘴和脚皆呈红色，身体大部分的羽毛是白色，尾羽黑色。
红嘴鸥数量大，喜集群，在世界的许多沿海港口、湖泊都可看到。一般生活在江河、湖泊、水库、海湾。繁殖于中国西北部的天山西部地区及东北部的湿地。在中国东部及北纬32度以南所有湖泊、河流及沿海地带越冬。主食是鱼、虾、昆虫、水生植物和人类丢弃的食物残渣。
据中科院昆明动物研究所博士伍和启介绍，从34只携带卫星定位装置的红嘴鸥监测数据来看，可以确定，来昆明越冬的红嘴鸥，分别来自蒙古共和国乌布苏湖、吉尔吉斯湖流域、俄罗斯的贝加尔湖南部地区和新疆的博斯腾湖流域。而每年春季海鸥飞离昆明后，再返回目的地。
