Exotic Banksia is named after English naturalist and traveller Sir Josef Banks. Together with Daniel Solander he was the first who brought to Europe the collection of these plants from Australia and Tasmania.

Banksia eksotis dinamai naturalis Inggris dan traveler Sir Josef Banks. Bersama dengan Daniel Solander, dia adalah orang pertama yang membawa koleksi tanaman ini dari Australia dan Tasmania ke Eropa.
