Punch Bowl Falls over the years

Punch Bowl Falls is located on a short spur trail off of the Eagle Creek trail in the Columbia River Gorge.
Its a beautiful falls with a nice cool swimming hole for those so inclined. It is also commonly believed to be the inspiration behind the stylized image of the falls featured on the cover of the rock band Styx' second album in 1973.
My first visit in 2007 was a little disappointing as a large tree had fallen into the creek making it impossible to get good pictures of the falls.
By 2013 that tree trunk had rotted down enough to get washed away, finally exposing the true beauty of the falls for my camera. I spent many days there photographing the falls and surrounding area.
Then in 2014 another tree came down leaving a vertical branch tracing right across the falls, again destroying any chance of getting good pictures. This was really a shame because my photography by that time was starting to improve a little, and I had been looking forward to producing some really nice images (by my standards) of this waterfall.
I returned again in 2016 and was please to find that the offending branch had gone, weather removed by human intervention or not I have no idea. The trunk remained firmly in place but at least the view of the water fall was clear of obstructions now. In some ways the decaying trunk adds character to the falls as it tends to make the location look more remote and natural.
Unfortunately this was my last visit to Punch Bowl Falls before the fire in 2017 which was started not far from this location.
Last week I returned to Eagle creek for the first time since the fire only to find that the trail is still closed to the public because of the danger from landslides, damaged to the trail, and falling trees.
I have no idea what Punch Bowl falls looks like today because we just can't get to it, but I am sure it looks nothing like the images below. So sad to have something so beautiful destroyed just because of human stupidity. It will, I am sure, grow back in time, but the landscape here has been changed forever.
