Beach is a geographical form consisting of sand, and is found in the coastal areas of the sea. The coastal area becomes the boundary between land and sea waters. The length of this coastline is measured around the entire coast which is a territorial region of a country.
According to the 2008 United Nations correction, Indonesia is the fourth longest-running country in the world after the United States (US), Canada and Russia. The length of Indonesia's coastline is 95,181 km.
Coastline
The coastline is the boundary of the meeting between the sea and the mainland at the time of the highest tidal sea. The sea line can change due to the abrasion, ie the erosion of the beach by the blow of a sea wave that causes the decrease of the land area.
There are several important steps that can be done in securing the shoreline such as breakwaters and the development of vegetation on the coast.
To overcome the abrasion / scour the shoreline of the wave / wave can be used breakwaters that serves to reflect back waves.the various ways taken to break the waves are by using a tetrapody-made pile of concrete at a certain distance from the shoreline.
Mangrove forests can help overcome the waves as well as beneficial to the life of animals and breeding ground for certain fish.mangrove forests in most of the North coast have been lost due to human activities, which in turn will undermine the coast.
Coral reefs are also natural breakwaters, so it is very necessary to be conserved and developed in defending the coastline.
