I should definitely use my head more when taking pictures, and really think if I will need the picture, or ten pictures from the same spot...

Nonsense. Those extra pictures help to ensure that the final result is as good as possible. More than occasionally it turns out that the one that you thought was going to be the best is far from it. Taking plenty of pictures, even a few intentional duplicates, is what photographers do. Though sometimes you really don't need to take duplicates of a random shot. It might be just fine if it doesn't turn out.
