I was just trying to figure out where there is a canal in this region in my post today and was informed it is probably the Elbe–Lübeck. I hadn't heard of the Elbe before, so it's ironic that you are posting from there now as well. Funny coincidence! Guess I will need to go visit it sometime.
The pictures were taken near the stair quarter in Hamburg. The river Elbe is very long and it´s flowing through Germany into the Northsea. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elbe

In all that gray, the red boat looks very inviting! A nice place to hang out in the winter. What kind of boat is that?
