The Minolta 16 MG-S

in #photography7 years ago

I find these little camera very usable and fun. The MG-S was the high point in the Minolta 16 series and had advance features when it came out in 1970. The standard kit came with the camera a flash cube attachment and case.IMG_0190.JPG
They either came in silver or black. The camera came with a 4 element 23mm F2.8 Rokkur lens. This was fixed focus at 10ft but did have a build in close-up for 4ft. The shutter settings are 30th to 500th of a second. The light meter is a CdS meter coupled to the shutter. The film speed setting is 25 asa to 400 asa. In full automatic mode the camera would not allow under or over exposure. The light meter was designed to use a 1.35v mercury battery. I use a 1.5v I know the meter will be a little off but still get good results. You could use this camera in manual mode.

The film came in day loading cassette. Depending on the model of camera you have you could get either 18 or 20 exposure. Minolta did stop selling these cassettes in 1994. This is one of the reason I started cutting and selling film. I could not let these little cameras go unused.

I have the new Kodak Ektachrome loaded in the camera now when I done with the roll I will post some pictures. I'm excited to use this film. Was very happy that Kodak is bring back film types. If any of you have any questions please ask. If you want more information about this camera please ask. If you have a Minolta 16 any model I do sell film
And remember film is not dead, it only smell funny
