The Original Wild and Crazy Guy ? - a tintype photo from 1875 - Steve Martin doppleganger?

I found this old tintype photograph in an album many years ago. It reminds me of the similar eyes & nose mask that comedian Steve Martin used in some of his early appearances. As this tintype dates to circa 1875, this may be the original "wild and crazy guy". A Steve Martin doppleganger! Or ancestor? (A tintype is an early form of photography. The image is on a thin sheet of tin about 2 1/2 x 4 inches.)
