Today we will make an excursion to the Ostankino TV tower in Moscow.

Recently, security measures have been strengthened. Even before buying tickets, you will check the contents of the bag, and you will pass the metal detector frame to the checkpoint. And after going to the tower leading the canopy, in a special room your bags will be enlightened, and you will be scanned.

We are at the tower. Under the towers around the tower do not like, everything is fenced. By the way, Ostankino Tower is standing on the concrete legs-pillars of a tower-groove with a very low center of gravity, which is located practically at the very bottom - in the so-called "skirt" of the tower. And the foundation of the tower is only 4.6 meters.

"Under the skirt" you can see the ventilation grilles - these are the air ducts, the system of which serves to cool the TV-transmitters located in the "skirt".

We go to one of the elevators. The elevators here are fast. Rush at a speed of 7 m/s.

Ta-dam! We arrived at the observation platform. The height is 337 meters. Part of the sections in the floor are made transparent, like in the first photo in the post. Attraction is not for the faint of heart! And on the perimeter of the circular observation platform, above the windows, photographs of Moscow with the designation of key landmarks are installed. On the left side of the frame is a metal structure. It is located outside and can move around the observation platform. It is necessary for workers to enter it and wash the windows outside.

And yet - at the height, for security reasons, the dishes are not subjected to heat treatment. Everything is prepared on the ground, and then on a special elevator is delivered here. By the way, cuttings are also cooked on the ground. Sharp knives on the tower there :)

After a delicious dinner, we climbed into the cargo elevator and went to look at the insides of the tower.

We are at 85 meters. In fact, the Ostankino TV Tower is a reinforced concrete pipe 385 meters high (hereinafter referred to as the metal part, and the tower's height reaches 540 meters). This fact somehow surprised me a bit. Before that, I saw this majestic structure only from the outside, and from the inside the tower was a pipe.

Steel ropes (number 149 pieces with a tension of 70 tons each) compress the tower from the inside, preventing external forces to exert a destructive effect on the barrel of the television tower, compressed by metal ropes.

The air inside the tower is dry, and the heat in general. But the ropes must be watched, check their tension.

In the center of the "pipe" are elevator shafts, a ladder and a shaft with feeders (high-frequency cables that transmit the signal from the transmitter to the antenna).
