Orchid Rain of Gold or Dancing Lady
Welcome back to my blog, dear readers
In this opportunity I bring you images of another of the orchid plants that I have in my small garden, in this case it is the popularly known as Golden Rain Orchid, name that owes to the splendid form in which it blooms. Its tiny inflorescences emerge in large quantities, along long floral rods, forming a beautiful waterfall, in shades ranging from bright yellow and pure, through the golden, to reach the ocher, always presenting small darker spots in the Separate them.
This orchid native to Central America, is part of a group of orchids known by the name of "Dancing Ladies", since its flowers seem to dance to the rhythm of the wind. This epiphytic species is scientifically called Oncidium splendidum, where Oncidium is translated from Greek as "tuberculo" and in the case of the word splendidum meaning splendor, it is due to the wonderful appearance of its inflorescences.
For the research I did, I discovered that the Golden Rain Orchid is semi-terrestrial, and that it needs a medium that drains very well, thank goodness that in my garden I have it planted in a straight trunk of a medium size and located in a place where it receives a lot of light, which is also very beneficial for her.
This plant already has a few years with us, although I could not say how many, but, I am almost sure that it exceeds three years and its evolution has been quite slow, since we have changed it several times in our garden, because I have commented on other occasions, the orchids are a bit whimsical and if they are not comfortable in the place where we place them, they do not bloom. Apparently, now if he liked the place where we located it, since he rewarded us blooming for the first time, we will see how often he will give us his small but precious flowers.
As you could see in the images that I shared, I documented the inflorescence process of my plant with photographs, I was very excited to know its flower, since we had never seen it bloom, my mother-in-law was given it, during a trip to a rural area of the Sucre-Venezuela state. Unfortunately, she was not given details about her care, we did not even know her name, only after it blossomed, we were able to discover it, comparing the images she took of her flowers with those we found on the internet.
Thankfully, that their requirements, not far from the other plants we have in our garden and that allowed him to survive and adapt, although the process was slow, but with love and patience always manages to get good results, and the test is in the images that I share today. Well for now I say goodbye to you, hoping that the information I shared will be to your liking.
