Chinese rose, Hibiscus or Cayenne

in #photography5 years ago (edited)

Greetings dear photography lovers

Today I want to share with you a beautiful flower that I know since I was very small, and that in my dear Carúpano, city located in eastern Venezuela, where I was born and happily lived my childhood and adolescence, is commonly known as "Cachupina", over time I found out that his most common name is Cayenne. When investigating a little about this evergreen shrub native of East Asia and belonging to the malvaceae family, I found out that it is known by many names depending on regionalism, some of them are, Capuchin, Jaramillo, Poppy, Cucarda, Gumamela, Rosa de China, Hibiscus from China, as you may have noticed, some are quite peculiar ... do not you think? However, their scientific name is Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis.

By continuing to investigate this flower, I learned that there are a lot of species, all characterized by their beauty and lush colors, what's more, I tell you that is extremely popular, it turns out that besides being the national flower of Malaysia, by the way, the Malays in their language call it "Bunga Raya", (another name more to the list), also, certain species are symbols of the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Hawaii, that at the level of countries, since, in Colombia it is the emblematic flower of Barranquilla, Girardot and Barrancabermeja; in Mexico it is the flower of the state of Tabasco, even in Venezuela it has its admirers, since it is one of the natural symbols of the Zulia state, the municipalities of Antonio José de Sucre (Socopó) and the parish of Montalbán. Actually, I am very surprised, how popular this beautiful flower is.

Another interesting aspect of this plant is that it has medicinal and cosmetic uses, for example, the infusion of its flowers, it has an excellent flavor, and also helps to fight insomnia. And if the infusion is placed on the hair, it supposedly helps prevent hair loss; On the other hand, some people affirm that if the leaves are crushed, and then the paste obtained is rubbed on the scalp, they help to combat dandruff, baldness and psoriasis.
