Bison Portraits in the Park (Original Photography)

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

Howdy,

The bison at Minneopa State Park, near Mankato, MN (USA), are settling into their autumn routine. Still growing, the calves are starting to catch up to the adults in size and are a lot less rambunctious. They seemed content with the warmer weather, although it is hard to tell with bison. They're not very expressive.

Evening sunlight seems to really bring out the reds and browns, especially in the fall. There aren't many reds out there, yet, but some of the trees are looking like they'll turn soon.

The light tones and all the browns and reds in the environment almost make these images look like those old sepia-toned photos.

Having a sunroof makes taking bison photos a little easier, at least while the weather is warm. At times, they were almost up against the vehicle and sticking a lens out the window, while not likely to cause problems, is a little unnerving.

oMg you ARE the king of Titles. Made me laugh with the 1st one...BUT "the every 3 year old's dream" got a snort laugh out of me. Too funny! I Love the bison photos and love expanding them. Why did you call...never mind, I get it, I see the 3rd horn lol. As I was typing I thought WAIT and scrolled back up. Love your bison models!!

Hehe—I think I prefer the bison to human three-year-olds. They are great models; never run away or throw tantrums, and I don't have to use sock puppets!

They are so big and powerful. I'm glad you were sensible and stayed in the car! And that nose licker.... love your title! Great photos.

Hehe, I was trying for a shot with her tongue out, but didn't expect it to go up her nose! Yum?

que buenas! :) menos mal que estabas en el coche, no son muy de fiar los bisontes, no?

Gracias. Pues sí, sin salvajes, no mascotas. Les vi una vez integrando atacar unas idiotas por la alambrada mientras sacaban selfies. Jiji

😂😂😂 jajaj ..........🏃🏃🤳 🐃🐃🐃🐃🐃

Wow.......these photos are sensational @fotosdenada especially the close up ones. The detail is superb. What huge beasts they are. (U & R)

Thanks! They were being very nice models. It can be hard to isolate an individual bison, as they stick together, but with a little patience it can be done.

Well, you've obviously got the skill and the patience to achieve great results @fotosdenada I'd be thrilled to capture such wonderful images especially as they do look a little imposing.

Haha, well. I'd rather be taking photos of the toros, but the bison are interesting. It has been fun to see the calves grow over the summer and autumn.
