One of the Best years of my life so far #Part 9 September 2017

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

In September 2017 I did a lot of wildlife Photography at the Neusiedlersee in Burgenland. We stayed there for 3 days in Ilmitz. Wich is not far to the Border of Hungary. Another Highlight of September 2017 was the Austrian Airfest in Krems and my trip to the Traunauen near Linz.

Wildlifephotography at Neusiedlersee

At Friday the first of September we startet our wildlife trip right after work, the Car ride from Linz took us over two hours to the destination in Illmitz. We deposited our suitcases in the accommodation in St. Andrä am Zicksee and then startet our first day of with the lighthouse in Podersdorf, where we did some longtime exposures.

In the Evening we also did some shots in the blue hour there. I did some longtimeexposures of the lake, the clouds and the pillars there. I really liked the dramatic scene the clouds produced, it was not really warm anymore and we had to wear thicker cloth so we didn't freeze.

After the blue hour we headed to a restaurant to get something to eat. It was probably 09 pm when we finaly got nice regional food. Because we planed to get up early the next day, we rushed to bed afterwards. The next day startet at 04:30 in the morning because we wanted to be at a special hiding at 05:30 before sunrise in the morning of the next day. First reason to get the best place there and the second one to be there at sunrise for some wildlife photography.

Birds and foxes

The next morning we really arrived at the hideout at 05:20 and gathered the best places on the window. For the first animals to show up we needed to wait for the sunrise wich took part at about 6 o clock in the morning. At about 7 o clock in the morning we had the luck to find a fox hunting in front of us. The fox was also very curious and askim himself what we are doing there with our cameras.

The fox did wander around quite a time before he found himself some ducks to chase after. We didn't see if he had luck to catch anything but i think this moring was a little difficult for the fox. Because our hideout was built behind a dune of gras the picture is not 100% clear because of gras between mee and the fox. But this probably helped us to hide better from the fox and it didn't leave immediately.

In addition to foxes there where a lot of birds there at Neusiedlersee, ducks, little egrets and sandpipers could be found there. At about half past eight in the morning i was able to take some shots of a little egret getting closer to our hideout. It was also looking for some food in the shallow water. Because ot the very shallow water it was probably very easy to find enough. I saw it picking in the sand for several minutes before leaving in another direction.

The second time the fox appeared it was a little bit more nervous than before but maybe it was also a different fox but i can't proof it. The fox was wandering around in the mud and always keeping the ducks in his eyes for a potential catch.

Hansag

The Hansag is a nature reserve place in "Burgenland" where you can find a lot of interesting animals, because the iron curtain has been on this place till the beginning of the 1990's the Hansag remained a beautiful place for seldom animals to survive and develop. We took some nice pictures of Rabbits there, We also found a pheasant but only a female one. The male ones would have nicer feathers. But Maybe i'll take a picture of one this year.
