These are the 5 most expensive cars in the world - See Pics
The most expensive cars in the world are so much more than transportation. These rolling art pieces encapsulate the priorities of the one percent, and in that universe, flamboyance and swagger take precedence over practicality and efficiency. Lifestyle criticisms aside, these are truly mind-boggling machines, and I’d like to count down my favorites for you here.
1. Rolls-Royce Sweptail - $13 million
The Rolls-Royce Sweptail is a one-off large luxury car made in the United Kingdom by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The Rolls-Royce Sweptail is hand-built, and inspired by coachbuilding of the 1920s and 1930s. The Sweptail was commissioned bespoke in 2013 as a one-off automobile, at the request of a super-yacht and aircraft specialist who had a unique idea in mind.
2. Mercedes-Benz Maybach Exelero - $8 million
The Maybach Exelero is a one-off high-performance sports car made by German manufacturer Maybach-Motorenbau GmbH, a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler. It was unvelied at the Tempodrom in Berlin in 2005.
The Exelero has a top speed of 218 mph (350 km/h) and a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration time of 4.4 seconds. The main materials used in the construction of the Exelero's interior are dark and red leather, neoprene, glossy black carbon fiber, and aluminum accents.
3. Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita ($4.8M)
Underneath the lustrous finish lies a 4.8-liter, dual-supercharged V8 with a total output of 1,004 hp and 797 lb-ft, which means it should have little to no trouble overtaking semis on the freeway. The car’s specifications — in both performance and price — are nearly comical at this point, and just three were ever made. Alex Todd Brand Manager at BoxyMo commented "The 1931 Bugatti Royale Kellner Coupe was sold for $8.7 million in 1987. That and many others won’t be included in this list, they are no longer available in the market."
4. Lamborghini Veneno Roadster – $4.5 million
The car is absolutely stunning from every angle, and to this day, we’re not convinced it isn’t an alien spacecraft surveying our planet for eventual takeover. It just doesn’t seem real. The only thing more remarkable than the look is the price — a whopping $4.5 million.
5. McLaren P1 LM – $3.6 million
Not a production car, this is more or less a street-legal version of the track-only McLaren P1 GTR. Converted by the British firm Lanzante, who bought the original P1 built by McLaren, it was made keeping in mind a select group of buyers in the U. S., Japan, U. K., and the UAE. This car has a lot in common with the P1 GTR and the legendary McLaren F1 road car. For example, the gold plating surrounding the engine bay with a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V-8. It is much smarter than the P1 GTR. Not only does it weigh 132 pounds (60 kg0 less than the P1 GTR, but its modified rear wing and enlarged front splitter join with the dive planes to generate 40% increased downforce as compared to the P1 GTR. The awesomeness of the aerodynamics can be witnessed where it is made for- on track, where it can produce 1000 horsepower. As of yet, only five units have been built, all of them being sold.
