I think Ralph Waldo Emerson said it best in his essay, Nature,
“ If the stars should appear but one night every thousand years how man would marvel and stare ”.
He wrote that in the 1800s before the modern era of ambient light that renders all but a few stars invisible to most people. It's sad that there are so few places left where we can truly see the spectacular beauty and mystery of the starry skies.
