Shiny Freesia seeds

in #photography9 years ago

It is fascinating how much you can learn about flowers when you start growing them. I always loved freesias mostly because of the heavenly fragrance. Definitely the best smelling flowers out there!

I bought some bulbs to grow them on my still_not_stretching balcony and I was not disappointed. The smell was all over!
But that is not all - after the blooms faded seed pods started to form. And I have never seen those before. Slowly maturing and opening revealing those pretty, shiny seeds.

Aren't they pretty?

Nature ...mind blowing...good to see your content

Very true! Thanks :)

had to google it to know which flower it is....at first i even thought its some kind of fruit - then read the text...gorgeous...

Thank you! They look a bit like pomegranate, don't they? :)

They are very pretty!! You reminded me to buy some more freesia bulbs. I had them growing in a couple of fragrant clusters and then - I had a "helper" who destroyed them :(

Bad bad helper! I suspect the same helper that helps my mum with daffodils bulbs ;)

Probably!! We should fire him/her :)

If it was that easy :p

Yes, that's so interesting! I love when I discover a seed pod on one of my plants.

Aren't they cool? Well.. maybe not for everyone. I just like seed pods. They have so many shapes!

Amazing photo. Beautiful post

Thank you :)

Thanks a lot!

This is a gorgeous macro. I love the sheen on those seeds and rich burgandy color!

Thank you! As if they were some sweet candies :D

Yes! Just beautiful!

Your balcony may not stretch, but it seems like you make efficient use of your space! And your macro photos make your garden seem so large! ; )

Thanks Chris! I have rotation on it ;) and some thing die off, I plant others...
I need a garden! :p

Does your town have community gardens, where people can get their own garden beds? We have several in the town where I live and I know other cities that have them, too. Sometimes there is a long wait to get in, but others have more change in the gardeners.

No, I didn't see them here. I know people that live in blocks/cities can buy (or rent, not sure how it works) a little piece of land to use as a garden. It is usually some bigger area that has lots of those little gardens next to each other.
Never saw or heard of renting just a garden bed.
