My precious!

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

Isn't that the cutest little cactus you have ever seen? :D
It is about 1,5 cm across and doesn't have any spines. Like a cute, green, spotted button. And this cuties name is Astrophytum Asterias and is native to Texas (USA) and Mexico.

Besides that it is uber cute it has pretty flowers too that grow from the center of the plant. But the plant is so nice on its own it doesn't even have to bloom :)
I just need to be very careful and don't over water it (like I tend to sometimes). It will move to a cactus heaven in no time.

Thank you @andrijana :)

Good to know a cactus without needles really exist. I usually also give them too much water. I always think they need some fresh water. But in the desert they also survive with a drop of water.

There is a lot of them without needles. Some are bald, some are fluffy, some have long hair.
I tend to water them too much too. Must be careful not to kill them that way.

Very cute!

Thanks :)
Now lets see if it survives :p

Congratulations!
In fact, very much
beautiful button !!

Thank you! It is so so cute and I see it growing... so far so good.

I am pleased for you!
It is very interesting!

Every year it will be more beautiful :)
It is better to grow it slower- it will live longer.
There is some max size that they can reach, and that is the end then. So the slower it is growing the longer it will live.

What? It will not just stay the max size? :o Just die when it reaches it?
No more food for this one! :p

Yes, that is very sad.. thay have max size of 10-20 cm. After 10 cm in diameter you have to be very careful if you want to keep them alive for some more yeaars. I have one old one, and am giving to it as less water as I can. I never fertilze Astros.
