Last day of the year.
Traditionally I will not go to any party. I will just wait for midnight and go to sleep another year older.
And not traditionally, I made traditional cookies that Poles make for this days and during the upcoming carnival. I can't even remember when I did those. Must be 20 years or so....
We usually stick with homemade doughnuts with homemade rose jam that my mum makes. And they always rock!
Those are called Faworki or Chruściki. Or Angel wings in English which is a lot easier for many of you. A very simple dough made of mainly from plain four, yolks and cream. Then formed and deep fried... Yes.. deep fried! And then you covers them in icing sugar for the sweetens, since there is no sugar in the dough.
Quite simple, yet tricky to make it right. Now I know what I didn't make them for so long :) :)
I know they are not perfect.

Well... and they didn't come up as crunchy as they should. Lets say that was on purpose too. They still look pretty and are tasty.

I like these cookies. My grandmother made like this here in Hungary. In Hungarian these cookies are called csöröge fánk. It was one of my favorite. Unfortunately I didn't eat it some years ago.
