I have this big aloe on my balcony that supposed to bloom yellow, but it never does (yea i know it needs bigger pot probably and more water in winter).
So when I saw this one growing in a garden in the countryside I was so stunned! It's a much bigger plant than my one with about 5 of those flowers stem in full bloom.
They definitely enjoy the Portuguese weather. I see the both yellow and green growing around the gardens, tucked as part of the fence and even along the roadside. Completely on their own. Heavy winter rains and cooler temperatures induces the blooming and growth. When it gets really hot in summer, with not a drop of rain for weeks they just go to sleep and wait for the fall to come.
See? It is taller than a regular fence.
now imagine dozens of plants growing together and blooming...
Beautiful view!
And all that beauty is protected by some nasty, sharp leaves.
Not once I had my legs scratched just when I wanted to water my plants and I steeped a little bit too close.
