Summiting Udalaitz, in the Basque Country, Spain

A few photos from back when I was living in the Basque Country.

This is one of the higher peaks in the region, and it definitely was worth the climb. We were lucky enough to have a clear day so we started out early, taking a bus from San Sebastian all the way out to Mondragon before starting our hike.

My roommate and a few friends joined me for the hike, and we brought some meat, cheese, bread and fruit to snack on at the top of the mountain before coming back down. Of course we brought plenty of water as well.

When you get to the top the best part is running along the ridgeline, and the spectacular 360 degree views that you have. Many people get a little nervous up top, but for me that's the best part. The feeling when you look down a 500m drop is my favorite, though scary.

Up top there were remains of what appears to be an old observatory, long ago abandoned. Time has taken its toll but the building has retained its beauty. The views are also great from up here.

All in all a great hike, I would highly recommend anyone to try it but do your research first! It is an all day hike and it is easy to get lost.
