The first frost
The leaves fell off the trees and it was time for the first frost. During the day the temperature dropped below zero, and at night it hit a ten-degree frost. Such a change in temperature, of course, affected the state of the Sukhona River - ice floes began to float on water.
Due to the sudden and severe slush formation, the ferry service through the Northern Dvina stopped.
The same period, hated by the residents of the river beyond the river, is when ice on the rivers of the region freezes.
Then as always there will be different thaws that increase the freeze-up time.
It remains only to wait and hope that the river would rise without strong hummocks and there would be no repetition of the end of 2015, when on the completely frozen river began the ice drift. This caused severe flooding in the spring of 2016.
