Sun Like the Moon

I was messing about in the kitchen the other day at homehome, and happened to run my self diagnosed ADHD ass to the living room on the other side of the house while I was in the mids of making dinner and saw this magnificent skyporn.

I always have my big camera ready to go in the downstairs, usually without even the lens cap on, because the countryside often reveals something amazing in a moments notice and I have mere seconds to capture it. I pulled on the first boots I could find, my dads, grabbed the camera and ran to the garden. I wanted to capture the sun through some foliage to give it a little more interest.

What the sky showed this time was a hazy, beautiful sun, through a layer of clouds. The colours it gave was somewhat ominous even, it being something like -15 degrees Celsius and even though it was in the middle of the day and sun was up and out, it looked quite dark. In my opinion, the sun looked more like the moon at this time. This lasted only a few minutes, and then the whole scene was a different colour and mood again.

Shot with the Nikon D7200 and Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8.

Come to think of it, the most probable reaction usually is to move away from foliage, so good thinking on your part there, going for the more non-standard option :)

I've found out through the years that to make a skyporn picture more interesting, you have to try and find something to put in front of the sky, be it an object, tree or a human.

Exactly. It applies to all kinds of landscapes more or less.
