Storm Damage from a Late Spring Storm (Original Photos)

in #photography7 years ago

About two hours before sunset a severe thunderstorm moved through eastern Nebraska bringing rain, wind, hail, and a possible tornado.

Photographs taken during the eerie, calm, quiet after the storm on 16 June 2017.

Tornado Warning As the Thunderstorm Rolled Through

As the Thunderstorm rolled through the area a Tornado Warning was issued by the National Weather Service and the local sirens sounded.

The wind, heavy rain, and hail made it difficult to see anything. All you could see were sheets of rain blowing through and listen to the small sized hail hitting the windows.

Tree Damage

After the storm the winds were calm and an eerie, surreal lighting filled the area. This is when I notice the damage to the trees in the distance.

With a dark sky still overhead I could see that this tree limb was split from the main tree. The stillness of the air allowed me to take these long exposure photos.

I could also see other split trees and at least one downed tree.

There was also a large tree that was uprooted.

At this time, I am not aware of any other damage in my area from the storm.

WOW! Impressive pictures of that dramatic nature scenery! Stay safe and have a nice weekend, my friend!

Every year there seems to be some bad thunderstorms in the area around Father's Day weekend.

This time, I just happened to be home to be able to photograph the aftermath.

@etcmike Nice photos! We've had some pretty large thunderstorms here in Minnesota as well lately!

Just a seasonal event here. This area always seems to have a few bad thunderstorms around Father's Day weekend and the College World Series going on in Omaha.

A lot of roofs in the neighborhood got replaced about a month ago. The hail is good for the roofing industry.

Stay safe this summer!

Have a great weekend!

It is crazy what power a storm has and what damage it can cause!

Strong straight line winds can be just as bad as a tornado.

Have a great weekend!

Looks like the tree is literally bleeding!

It does!

In the early spring the city just went through and cleared out the dead trees. Looks like they will have more work to do.

Have a great weekend!
