I would love to hear a bit about the ceremony. How does it go, is it over one day or more. In Ireland the wedding day usually lasts for about 14 hours, beginning the ceremony for about an hour, the re rest of the time is a big party with family and close friends.
Hi @eroche The wedding ceremony at Gayo Lues (wedding party) only takes a day, from morning until afternoon. But before the party there was a series of custom processions that had been run before such as proposing / sending a messenger to request (apply).
For some other districts still in Aceh province marriage party spends up to 7 days, starting from noon to night 7 days without stopping. And that is usually done by economically capable families (middle to upper).
That sounds like a great way to celebrate. Is there a particular time of the year when it's wedding season. I imagine if the celebrations last a week people must take a lot of time off work.
Generally weddings may be throughout the year except in the month of Ramadan (the month of fasting). Special Muslim weddings most in the month before Ramadan, after Eid or before and after Eid Al-Adha. The months of Marriage and the party refer to the Hijri calendar.
