About the cute squirrels that are better off not getting turned on.
Nowadays, it is often possible to meet not only cats and dogs, but also saucers, spiders, raccoons, cougars and even tigers. It is good if these people, when buying a pet, are aware of all the responsibility that falls on their shoulders. But often people buy a pet without knowing how to properly care for it.
The squirrel seems to be a very nice and beautiful animal. However, in practice it turns out that it is not so easy to contain a squirrel.
Financial issue
Despite its seemingly small size, a squirrel is more expensive than some cat breeds. This is due to the fact that, as cats, squirrels have been kept relatively recently and there is little competition in the market. This allows sellers to set high prices. Protein content is also expensive and it is very difficult to get squirrels out. Hence the space amounts.
But you need to understand that the protein will need to be maintained for 10-12 years, and this is also quite a large cost.
Do not forget to buy an aviary (the older the protein, the more should be an aviary), feed, filler, all sorts of toys, stairs, as well as the house where the protein will sleep.
It's hard to treat.
Cat and dog owners often complain that finding a good vet is very difficult. And finding a doctor who knows all the diseases of proteins is almost impossible. However, a protein should also be vaccinated and helped if your pet gets sick or hurts his leg.
But if you do find one, you should be prepared to pay an impressive amount for their services.
It's hard to tame
Yeah, it's easy to teach a squirrel to take nuts off your hand. But it's impossible to explain to the beast that you can't leave excrement all over the apartment. It's important to understand that squirrels are wild animals, and the maximum you can count on is that your pet will get attached to you and sit on his arms and shoulders.
The squirrels bite.
These beasts have very sharp teeth, which are used to chew nuts and bumps. Fluffy animals also bite the fingers of their owners. Mostly it happens during games and feeding. It is extremely difficult to wean the animal from this bad habit.
Spoil furniture
As mentioned above, squirrels have sharp teeth. And if you don't give the beast permanent access to branches or any surface it can sharpen its claws and teeth on, the furniture will be hopelessly damaged. It won't be possible to keep your pet in a cage all the time - the squirrel needs to move, otherwise it could get sick.
Unpleasant smell
The aviary must be cleaned regularly. However, even this measure will not protect you from a specific odour.
I'm not dissuading you from making squirrels at all. I just want you to take this issue responsibly and assess your financial possibilities.
