Why is a squirrel's tail and why is it so fluffy?
A squirrel's tail is one of its main body parts! Without a squirrel's tail, a squirrel will not survive, because it has many functions necessary for life.
Belkin tail is a living part of the vertebral column with dozens of vertebrae, intervertebral disks, with many muscles, ligaments and blood vessels.
Well, I'll start with him serving as a wheel during jumps and increasing maneuverability. A squirrel can jump from one tree to another to escape a predator. Also, the tail serves as ballast and helps to move quickly and confidently.
When a squirrel lies or sits on a branch, it acts as a counterweight.
During the cold season, while sleeping, squirrels use their tail as a blanket, hiding behind them. That's why a squirrel's tail in winter is big and fluffy.
Also, proteins use the tail as a means of communication, express their emotions with it. And, in addition, a protein can unconsciously control the flow of blood to its tail. This way, for example, they can escape from poisonous snakes, because they are designed to react to heat. When a snake is attacked, the squirrels begin to actively move their tail in different directions, thus increasing the blood flow to its tail and as a result, confusing the snake. The squirrel waving its tail, which is warming up at this time, and thus it seems more dangerous and threatening to the snake than it really is.
Also, due to the fact that proteins control the blood flow to the tail, they regulate the temperature of their body in this way: in hot weather proteins increase the amount of blood flow to the tail, dissipating more heat - it helps it to cool down, and in cold weather the amount of blood flow to the tail decreases, keeping more heat - it helps the animal warm.
Tail can be used as an umbrella)). Some earth protein species that live in hot countries use it very actively. They tail themselves to create a shadow, hide from the sun. Thus, the protein tail is able to reduce the temperature by as much as 5 degrees! It allows a squirrel to look for food in the midday heat.
And of course, a squirrel's tail is a beautiful ornament!
