INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL BIRDS THAT YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THERE ARE #6: WILSON'S BIRD OF PARADISE "THE DOUBLE SPIRAL" HD
THE REPUBLICAN BIRD OF PARADISE OR WILSON'S BIRD OF PARADISE (CICINNURUS RESPUBLICA) IS A TROPICAL BIRD WITH STRIKING COLORS AND A MUSTACHE TAIL (MALE ONLY). THE FEMALE ON THE OTHER HAND HAS A SHORT TAIL AND IS OF A BROWN PLUMAGE, WITH THE CROWN SOMEWHAT COLORED, BUT LESS INTENSE THAN IN THE MALES. ITS SIZE IS AROUND 16 CENTIMETERS. THE WEIGHT OF THE MALES OSCILLATES BETWEEN THE 50 AND 70 GRAMS, WHEREAS IN THE FEMALES DOES NOT SURPASS THE 60 GRAMS.
THE BIRDS OF PARADISE ARE RECOGNIZED, THANKS TO THE VARIETY OF COLORS OF THEIR PLUMAGE AND THE COURTSHIP TACTICS THEY EMPLOY, AS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND DISTINCTIVE SPECIES. THE MOST DISTINCTIVE FEATURE OF THE MALE IS UNDOUBTEDLY ITS BRIGHT TURQUOISE BLUE CROWN ON THE BACK OF HIS HEAD. THIS ONE IS DECORATED WITH A VELVETY BLACK PLUMAGE THAT DRAWS LINES ON THE CROWN. A GOLDEN SEMICIRCLE ON TOP OF THE PLUMAGE CREATES CONTRAST WITH THE CRIMSON FEATHERS OF THE REST OF THE BACK PLUMAGE, HOWEVER THE COLOR THAT PREDOMINATES IN THE UPPER PART OF THE WINGS IS THE BLACKISH BROWN AND THAT AS IT DESCENDS IN THE WING IT IS CLARIFYING, THUS ENDING WITH A CRIMSON COLOR ON THE TIPS. THE VELVETY THROAT IS USUALLY BLACK AND IN SOME CASES HAS BRONZE-COPPERY TONES WITH A PURPLE SHEEN. ON THE OTHER HAND THE PLUMAGE OF THE CHEST IS A BRIGHT EMERALD GREEN WITH PURPLE SPARKLES. THE TAIL IS COMPOSED OF BLACK FEATHERS IN THE CENTER THAT FORM A SPIRAL. THE FEMALE DOES NOT STAND OUT SO MUCH FOR ITS ADORNMENTS, ITS HEAD IS LESS RADIANT AND BLUE-LILAC, OLIVE GREEN TOP WITH SORREL, BROWN WINGS AND THE BOTTOM OF BROWN COLOR DECORATED WITH THIN BLACK AND BROWN BARS. THE FEMALE DOES NOT HAVE A SPIRAL TAIL. MALES THAT HAVE NOT YET MATURED ARE PHYSICALLY VERY SIMILAR TO FEMALES.
THE MOMENT IN WHICH ITS PECULIAR ASPECT IS SEEN IN ITS MAXIMUM SPLENDOR IS THE ONE OF THE CORTEGE. THE MALE INITIATES HIS PRESENTATION FROM AN ILLUMINATED PLACE AND SURROUNDED BY A DENSE FOREST CREATING A SMALL CIRCLE AROUND HIM, WHICH HE TAKES CARE TO ENSURE THAT THERE ARE NO UNWANTED ELEMENTS SUCH AS LEAVES OR STEMS. WHEN A POTENTIAL MATE APPROACHES, THE MALE'S POSTURE BECOMES STIFF AS THE FEMALE APPROACHES, AND AT THE MOMENT THE COMPLICATED DISPLAY OF THE PROCESSION BEGINS, SHOWING THE CHEST AND ACCOMPANYING THIS WITH CALLS AND CHANTS. AS FOR ITS REPRODUCTION IS DIFFICULT TO FIND COPIES OF THIS SPECIES.
