The most photographed house in Berkeley California
FISH, HOUSE, or TOUGHEST ANIMAL IN THE WORLD?
This post took a completely unexpected turn!
I thought it was going to be about an unusual house,
but it turns out to be about one tough animal!
I am visiting relatives in Northern California.
I asked them what I could photograph for steemit and they sent me here.
They called it the "Fish House"
I had not read about it prior to going, so I assummed it was designed after a fish.
There were fins:
And bubbles:
But when I started to write this post , I searched the architect EUGENE TSSUI.
I found out that he built this house for his parents. They wanted the safest house in the world!
So he designed it after the most indestructible creature on our planet.
The TARDIGRADE.
The house was not a fish after all but an ugly little creature!

An animal so resilient that it can go without water forr decades. They can survive the hottest and the coldest environments on earth. Some surviving the shock of boiling water and temperatures that near absolute zero. Some have lived after high levels of radiation. And some even survivied being blasted into space and returning to Earth!
In designing the house after the TARDIGRADE, Tissui gave his parents what they wanted. A house that could survive eathquake, flood, fire and pests.
Thanks for sharing the story behind the house. I have never heard of the animal he built it to be like. His devotion to his parents is inspiring. Is anyone living in the house now?
His parents lived in it from 1995 to around 2014. Coincidentally, as I was standing in the street taking a picture, a young man arrived at the home with groceries. He told me he rents it from the architect and that one of Tssui's parents had passed away but one was living.
I had never heard of this creature either, but interesting to read about it.
How cool that you were able to find out the story from the new tenant. Thanks for taking the time to share further. It felt incomplete not knowing what became of them and the house.
Thank you for collaborating with me to promote this post as explained at https://steemit.com/steemit/@jerrybanfield/10-ways-to-fund-a-steem-growth-project.
Very interesting writing... please keep sharing this types with us..
