It is impossible to talk about Christmas without thinking about the Christmas tree. In many homes, the tree is the main adornment of this season. It should be traced back to the second and third millennium BC. To discover the origins of the Christmas tree.

At that time, the Indo-European peoples, who spread throughout Europe and Asia, celebrated the birth of the god of fertility, named Frey, adorning a perennial tree in the season approaching Christian Christmas.

With the evangelization of the peoples, Christians adopted this tradition, but they transformed their meaning, to celebrate Christmas and the birth of Jesus. And over time it took the custom to decorate the Christmas tree with lights, angels, bows, garlands, etc.

The story of the Christmas tree

The modern Christmas tree comes from Germany. Its first references date from the end of the 16th century, when a tree was decorated to set the cold of Christmas, a custom that spread rapidly throughout the world.

At the end of the 19th century it would reach Great Britain, France, the United States, Puerto Rico, China and Japan. And the tradition of the decorated spruce left from England to the United States, in the times of the colonization. August Imgard, an Ohio man, has been credited with setting up the first Christmas tree in 1847.

Since then, American culture has been the standard bearer for Christmas decoration.

How to Build a Christmas Tree

Christmas trees have different sizes, they can be natural or artificial, and have more or less decoration, but all Christmas trees are assembled with the same affection and illusion.

  • Before starting to decorate the Christmas tree it is necessary to choose a pleasant place and have a source of electric energy. Once chosen will have to stretch all the branches of the spruce, it is time to decorate.

  • The lights are placed, from bottom to top, distributed well over the whole tree.

  • With the help of the children, the Christmas decorations are placed: angels, pineapples, bells, bows, balls, stars, garlands, etc. The heavier ones will be put in the inside and the lighter ones in the tips of the branches.

  • Finally, we place the largest ornament, a star, an angel or even a Santa Claus, in the highest part of the tree to crown it and ready we have our ornate spruce.

Sort:

My family has been reusing the same artificial tree for over 10 years! It's practically part of the family at this point.

In my family we also use artificial trees I think they are better because it avoids the wear of the soil by sowing so many trees and cutting them, besides that they do not generate residues.
