Rome - St. Peters basilica
Yesterday we initiated a digital trip to Rome and have a short look at the Colosseum.
We saw that parts of the Colosseum got dismantled to build churches. So today let's have a look on the most famous church in Rome: the St. Peters cathedral - the main place of the apostolic see and the state of Vatican. It is also a, as far as I know, an unique thing to have an state within a city.
View from the top of the cathedral. It is possible to get there either by elevator or by food (the last steps anyway have to be climbed by food within the cupola).
View of within the church. I find it always again very impressive.
Fun fact: it took 120 years to build the basilica and as it was tradition it is still the highest building in Rome.
