The BIG FIVEsteemCreated with Sketch.

Having lived in South Africa my whole life I am very blessed to say that I have seen the BIG FIVE in real life more than once in my life.

How's this stunning giraffe, look at those eyelashes

During the period of 2008 - 2012 we lived in close proximity to a Nature Reserve called Hluhluwe which we visited as often as we could.

This is the days before I had even a half decent camera so excuse the quality of the photos. All photos are my own. On this particular outing we were host to a well know British Artist and I also had my best friend visit us during the same time. We packed a picnic, loaded the kids and set off to enjoy the day in the wild.

We were lucky from the word go. The weather was nice and the animals were out to play.

We were so fortunate to see some lions that just killed a catch and a hyena that walked away with a piece of the meat but the long grasses and the glass of the car windows did not make for very clear shots I am afraid.

We took a break halfway through to have a braai (a barbeque) and there were warning signs everywhere to watch out for the wild animals. The warthoghs didn't care much for us and roamed around the area we were chilling. Bruce being a Brit didn't know how to barbeque so the job fell on my shoulders. :)

Watch out for the big guys

My friend V was on holiday and decided to make the most of the winter sunshine, relaxing in the chair

To me this was an amazing trip down memory lane and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. We did this particular trip in 2011 so quite a while back.

Island Greetings.

I enjoyed every bit of the pictures of your time in the wild, I can attest to the giraffe being such a beauty... I was on in Limpopo and most recently one in East London.
Interesting share and those pictures looks like they were taken today 👌
