Clavius Lenses Organized

in photography •  18 days ago

Our Clavius lens set’s aperture inserts were completely disorganized and I was able to spend a little time getting the kit ready for production. My favorite at the moment are the pink, colored ovals which gives the image a gorgeous oval bokeh while shading flares and some the shadows a pink hue. We’ve got several colors but I definitely want some more. Blood red would be sweet,

The kit went out on a rental job last week and they performed beautifully, so I’m confident that the new bodies that Richard Gale designed are working as they should. There’s that beautiful, 88mm. I can’t wait to test these against a zoom.

I wonder how we might match the colored bokeh from the aperture discs on the zoom. Might have to build something custom for the front element. We shall see.

Awesome. I had no idea that was even a thing!
You’re on another level of lens kit.

So how do those discs work?

They are quite cool. The rear element has been redesigned by Richard Gale to be unscrewable. Once unscrewed you can replace it with a custom rear element, an aperture disc or both. The disc sits between that rear element and the next set of optics and creates custom boleh shapes and shades when the disc is colored.
