Summer passed and a lot of warm memories still can't leave my heart. One of these  memories was the acquaintance with turtles. 

And today I want to tell you some interesting facts about these cute small animals.

• Among modern turtles there are a lot of giants. These are leatherback sea turtles. which may weight from 300 kg to half a ton.
• Turtles are long-lived: they can live more than 100 years.
• The rings that appear on the shell can tell you how old the certain turtle is
• Turtles can be found on all continents, except Antarctica.
• Turtles have excellent vision, smell, hearing and touch. While communicating with people, they remember their faces.
• Stretching the neck, listening attentively - the reaction of the turtle to affectionate speech. If you will be rude to it - the turtle hides in the shell.
• The slowness of land tortoises depends on the temperature of the environment: at low temperatures the movement of the turtles slows down. Moreover, the temperature depends on the sex of the turtles: males appear at a low temperature, while females - at a high temperature.
• All turtles lay eggs on the ground. Their number depends on the size of the female: the larger the female, the more eggs it will put off.
• Turtles that lead a watery lifestyle can move in water at a speed of 35 km / h.
• Skinny turtle is an excellent diver - it can dive to a depth of 1200 m.
• Some turtles can do without food for 5 years.
• In Kiev there is an amazing turtle, which has 6 paws and 2 heads. Scientists suggest that this is a female, which is 5 years old. This miracle - Siamese twins with a common shell and fused bodies.  A characteristic feature of the turtle is that one head is better and eats more.
