Beautiful Monarch Butterfly.
In summer New Zealand is filled up with these butterflies! They are everywhere, and they bring so much life, colour and beauty to the summer. Many people grow Swan plants so that the butterflies are attracted to lay their eggs on them, and when they hatch our gardens are full of bright orange butterflies! This is one of the only two types of butterflies you really see often in New Zealand... The Monarch and the little white cabbage butterflies.
Here are some pictures from last summer when I visited New Zealand again! These are a few different butterflies that I had the change to photograph.
This is a picture I took at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth, New Zealand.
In this picture the butterfly has landed on a rose and you can see the contrast between the colour of the flower and the butterflies wings.
Finally I have another image of a Monarch, but this time it had decided to land on a dead (or dying?) flower.
