The diary game: plastic surgery

Plastic surgery is a field of surgery involving the restoration, enhancement, and reconstruction of human body structures. It consists of a great number of different treatments including repair, cosmetic surgery, restoring body parts and the functions while removing the effects caused by injury or disease.

Reconstructive surgery can be performed on congenital defects such as cleft lips, burn scars, traumatic injury and tumors including breast cancer which all help in boosting the patients’ self esteem and quality of life. Comprehensive cosmetic surgery procedures like facelift, breast enhancement, and cosmetic nose reshaping has gained practice with beauty perception changes in the society.

With the growing culture of cosmetic surgery, surgeons have developed not only a broader range of more sophisticated technology, but also improved the methods of performing operations. However, it also raises ethical considerations, including the psychological impact on patients and the pressure to conform to beauty ideals. Although several people convert to surgery to enhance their confidence and/or satisfaction, these procedures should be taken into consideration carefully and not used to satisfy social norms but rather the individual’s needs and not the unrealistic societal beauty norms.
