We headed up into the Sierra Nevada mountains for a couple backpacking trips. The first of which was a 3 day trip exploring the Dinkey lakes wilderness. We started our hike from the Cliff lake trailhead near the Courtright reservoir and hiked into the wilderness area and found a nice spot to camp at Cliff lake. We setup camp and did some fishing in the lake. The next day we planned out a big loop from Cliff lake. We climbed up above the lake and up to all 3 summits of Three Sisters. From the third summit we dropped down to Island lake which was quite beautiful with little granite islands poking out from the water. We took our lunch break there and did some fishing. From there we caught the trail over to Second Dinkey lake and then climbed up to Rock lake. Then we left the trail and headed up to climb Dogtooth peak. The climb up was mostly easy with some fun exposed class 3 moves near the summit blocks. The view was spectacular with far views in every direction, overlooking the entire Dinkey lakes wilderness and beyond with the Courtright reservoir where we began way out to the south of us and Kaiser peak, our next adventure, sticking out way to the north of us and hundreds of miles of beautiful mountain wilderness in between. From Dogtooth peak we dropped down the south face to Bullfrog lake and caught the trail from there back up to Cliff lake. We camped out one more night at cliff lake and then headed back out to the trailhead the next morning. We drove into Shaver lake and got some pizza. Shaver lake pizza is amazing, especially after backpacking for a few days. (www.shaverlakepizza.com) Then we found a spot off a dirt road up above Huntington lake where we made camp and got our gear ready for our next adventure, Kaiser peak!

That is simply amazing! Incredible shots mate. So sad Canadians allowed tar sand production to destroy a huge chunk of its pristine wilderness.

So beautiful.. :)

The Dinkey lakes wilderness really is a beautiful area. I can't wait to get back out there and explore it some more!

I will read more about it, Maybe I'll also go with my family to have a BBQ time ..

Man, I can't wait to get back out west. I have my dog trained for trails now and just need to book some trips.
