Curious places in Norway that you should know that there are (Part 1)

in #photography7 years ago

Norway is a land of steep mountains and fjords that resemble a paradise, churches that are fairy tale, or glaciers where we can find authentic natural ice cathedrals. There is no shortage of villages frozen in time with their wooden houses, steep cliffs, islands and landscapes full of curious nooks and attractions. The following is a collection of some of them, so that they make irresistible the idea of knowing this country that displays some of the coldest landscapes (aunqeu there is also summer) more beautiful of the planet:

  1. A fjord that goes from beautiful (Sognefjord)

Located 75 kilometers north of Bergen, the Sogn Fjord extends for 204 kilometers, reaching astonishing dimensions both below sea level (up to 1,300 meters) and above sea level, with cliffs that can surpass The 1,000 meters. Along the fjord, there are numerous villages that look lovely, plus blue waters surrounded by towering cliffs, rock walls, waterfalls and lots of green in summer, which is said to be one of the best Norwegian versions of paradise

  1. A natural ice cathedral (Jostedal Glacier)

The "cathedral" of ice is located in one of the arms of the Jostedal glacier, the Nigardsbreen. Interestingly, this arm of the glacier began to recede abruptly in the year 2006, so that a year later, the researchers discover this ice cave from an opening of about five meters.

  1. A church in wood that looks like a story

In Norway there are numerous wooden churches, and among them, we chose the church of Borgund to illustrate this entrance. Built in the mid-twelfth century and almost unchanged, it has survived Stoic over 800 years:

  1. A rock that seems to levitate (Trolltunga)

The rock is called Trolltunga (or troll language, I think, no further explanation is required), and lies above the village of Skjeggedal in the municipality of Odda in Norway. What makes it an incredible site is its whimsical shape overlooking an abyss of 1,100 meters in height.

  1. A village that looks like a Christmas story
Røros is a municipality and locality that seems frozen in time, with its dozens of small historical wooden houses in a wavy and wooded landscape that could well star in a Christmas story

  1. The deepest cliffs in the world (Kjerag Hills)

The Kjerag Mountains, or Kiragg, are not "so high". In fact, at their highest point they reach 1,110 meters above sea level. However, being eroded in a very particular way, the abysses in vertical fall are almost as high as the mountains themselves. In them we can find some of the most pronounced cliffs in the world with walls of more than 1,000 meters of freefall.

Beautiful post thank you for sharing just give you up vote

Nice share. The place is so beautiful. Hope to visit someday. @daza1994

Gorgeous images! Norway looks like an amazing place. We have to enjoy those glaciers before they are gone, and Borgund Church is straight out of a fantasy novel. A wooden structure 800 years old is hard to believe!

If you are right, the church is fantastic, also in that country enjoy the aurora borealis, country blessed, hahaha

Hello how are you ? Nice pics
