ORP Błyskawica - Polish destroyer (according to the terminology of the interwar period - a destroyer), one of two built ships of the type Grom, introduced to service in the Navy in 1937. He participated in the activities of the Second World War from the first to the last days of fighting in Europe, operating in the Atlantic, the North Sea and the Mediterranean. He participated, among others, in the Norwegian campaign and the evacuation of Dunkirk, the Battle of the Atlantic, operations "Torch" and "Overlord" and the battle of Ushant. The operations at the side of the Allies ended with participation in Operation "Deadlight". In May 1946, he was taken over by the Royal Navy, and returned to the Polish flag on July 1, 1947.

After renovation and conversion, he returned to active service, serving as the flagship of the Navy. The staff of the Polish fleet trained on board. After the failure of the boiler room in 1967, another repair was considered unprofitable and from 1969 remained in Świnoujście as a stationary anti-aircraft defense ship. From May 1, 1976, it is moored in the Port of Gdynia as a museum ship. He is the oldest surviving destroyer in the world. In 1987 he was awarded the Gold Cross of the Virtuti Militari Order, and in 2012 - the "Pro Memoria" Medal.

ORP Błyskawica – polski niszczyciel (według nazewnictwa okresu dwudziestolecia międzywojennego – kontrtorpedowiec), jeden z dwóch zbudowanych okrętów typu Grom, wprowadzony do służby w Marynarce Wojennej w 1937 roku. Uczestniczył w działaniach II wojny światowej od pierwszych do ostatnich dni walk w Europie, operując na Atlantyku, Morzu Północnym i Morzu Śródziemnym. Brał udział między innymi w kampanii norweskiej i ewakuacji Dunkierki, bitwie o Atlantyk, operacjach „Torch” i „Overlord” oraz bitwie pod Ushant. Działalność operacyjną u boku aliantów zakończył udziałem w operacji „Deadlight”. W maju 1946 został przejęty przez Royal Navy, pod polską banderę powrócił 1 lipca 1947 roku.

Po remoncie i przezbrojeniu powrócił do czynnej służby, pełniąc funkcję okrętu flagowego Marynarki Wojennej. Na jego pokładzie szkoliły się kadry polskiej floty. Po awarii kotłowni w 1967 roku uznano kolejny remont za nieopłacalny i od 1969 roku pozostawał w Świnoujściu jako stacjonarny okręt obrony przeciwlotniczej. Od 1 maja 1976 roku zacumowany jest w Porcie Gdynia jako okręt muzeum. Jest najstarszym na świecie zachowanym niszczycielem. W 1987 roku został odznaczony Krzyżem Złotym Orderu Virtuti Militari, a w 2012 Medalem „Pro Memoria”.
