Colour challenge | MondayRed: Talha wine

in #photography6 years ago

In the Alentejo region (southern Portugal), we call these huge reddish pots "talhas "...
And what are they, you ask?

Well... they are a kind of amphora made of clay, used to make wine, with a technique developed by the Romans many centuries ago!

In fact, talha wines are at the origin of all the Alentejo region wine production!

«The talha winemaking process has been handed down from generation to generation throughout history, almost without change» and «(...) is the epitome of the millenary wine culture of the Alentejo.»
