Athabasca FallssteemCreated with Sketch.

Athabasca Falls is just 20 minutes driving distance south of Jasper Alberta, on the Icefields Parkway, also known as the 93 north highway. This Icefields Parkway is rated as one of the most scenic drives in North America, so if you are ever in Alberta, definitely don't miss this route!
Athabasca Falls are considered the most "powerful" Falls in the Canadian Rockies due to the fact that the entire Athabasca River is funneled into a 3 metre gap (9ft) at the precipice. It is actually quite loud to listen to! Here are some pics from our last trip there.

Is that a glacier lake - such a beautiful green. I can imagine the roar as the water falls through that narrow passageway. Beautiful.

Yes the river originates from the Columbia Glacier melt, thanks @countrygirl!

Wonderful waterfall with nice view! I wish to travel there once in my life!

Yes, highly recommended @tangmo!

Whoa, I wouldn't want to get sucked down that drain!!!

Yeah, always have to hold the kids hands tightly at times, to avoid any accidents @cognoscere!

Thanks and Merry Christmas to you as well @bontonstory!

Breathtaking scenes and I'm officially envious of your access to them. The only place I've ever been in Canada as an adult was a day trip to Pancake Bay, north of Sault Ste. Marie. We were vacationing in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and had the chance, so we made the most of it.

Funny side note - Crossing over into Canada was pleasant, easy, and done with a smile. Coming back to the US was cold, impersonal, and intimidating. Eye-opening experience!

Next time your in Canada, you will definitely have to come out west to the Rockies! No shortage of activities and sightseeing excursions to participate in @aunt-deb!

That's a bucket list item, for sure! Hubby's been to Banff. That's what caught my attention in your titles. Now I'm hooked and have to live vicariously through your words and gorgeous photos. It'll do .... for now. ;-p

Great..there's a lot more to come @aunt-deb!

really beautiful there, thanks for sharing!
