The Rail Yards market; Original Photography and Tour

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

The Rail Yards Market is located in the heart of an abandoned historic blacksmith shop.

The venue is a beautifully interesting one, as it is a huge dilapidated old warehouse building that used to house a giant blacksmith shop.

The market is an awesome collection of experiences all rolled into one Sunday morning. (Sundays, May thru October from 10am-2pm downtown Albuquerque, NM))

  • There are local crafts people and farmers selling their great items.
  • The event is chocked full of awesome foods and drinks to eat prepared on site.
  • There is live music, puppet shows for the kids, a magician and more than a handful of amazing artists selling and making art.
  • Not to mention the space itself is really cool and worth checking out; especially if you are any sort of history buff or an urban explorer type.

The Rail Yards market has an awesome mission to preserve unique down spaces, gather many communities of people in a shared space, nurture entrepreneurship, and offer a space that allows many of the awesome locals artisans to reach real people with their talents.

This past weekend was my first time there. I had a great time.

I like to share some original Photography; the first section is of the cool, decaying architecture, the second section is images of the market event it self.

Love the painting on wood! And the treats look really delicious!

That guy is really good as are you... the both of you work wonders on wood.

It's a shame that not more communities host events like this one. How long has this been going on ?

A few years at least, every Sunday. I also wish for more events like this one, it is great.
