My First Event As A Photographer! - Diva Birthday Party!

I totally consider myself as an amateur photographer. Together my husband and I have been learning about our Canon EOS Rebel T6 and teaching ourselves how to properly work it. We tell everyone we go to photography school monthly...watching tutorials and how to videos online. I mean really, we all know that these days you don’t have to pay to go to an elaborate school to learn a skill, you can sit right at home and learn it on your computer. I’m so grateful that people take the time to teach their skill to others.

We invested in this to originally be able to take our own family pictures. We have a tradition every year that we take new ones because...well it seems we always have a new baby added to the family lol (yes I’m currently expecting our 5th 🎉)! At the rate we were going we decided instead of paying someone to take them it would be best we learn how to take professional shots. So of course as we got practice and experience with shooting I started to share those photos with family and friends and of course with you all my Steemit family. That caused people to start asking us to take their family pictures or their kids school pictures.

Last month my cousin asked me if I could attend her event she was setting up and take some shots for her. She just started a decorating event business and she needs some good photos for her portfolio. It was kind of my idea because I asked her,

Do you have anyone taking professional pictures for you? Your work is too good just to have cell phone photos.

I then showed her some of our work and that’s when I was invited for my first photographer event! I was excited when she told me what the event was because I just knew how cutesy it would be. Someone hired her to put on a Diva Birthday Party for their friend who was turning 37. She has never ever had a Birthday Party in all her life. She grew up in really rough conditions and had a pretty tough life. I was even more excited to do this after hearing about her.

Okay my Steemit Family, here are some shots that I took for the party. Please let me know how you think I did. For you real professionals I’ll take any advice on anything I could improve on. This has become a passion for me and I love taking time to edit the pictures and make them look magical. I had so much fun doing this and she loved them so much that I already have another event on the schedule with her for next month. She wants to hire me as her permanent photographer but unfortunately I cannot commit to a part-time gig right now. However I plan to occasionally do events in my spare time.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my first gig! It didn’t feel like work to me because I enjoyed it so much. On top of that she gave me permission to post these pictures to share with you all, it was a win win!!!
