Irem Temple Staircase Abandoned Shit Weekly Contest - №.7 - B&W
This is for the contest for the "B&W" abandoned contest ! #aswcontest held by @customnature and Judged by @daveks
A beautiful staircase that hopefully will be saved before it is too late. I added a photo below it to show the main area of the building. The Irem Temple is located in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. There is an attempt at saving it, but I doubt it will happen.
this looks amazing. from the name, it is some kind of church, but it looks like an theatre. it is sad that this kind of buildings just fall apart
I guess it is basically a Men's Fraternity (The Shriners), that do good for the communities & children's hospitals. They used the 'Temple' name because of the look of the buildings - nowadays they are called a "Shrine Center". Like many places like this in the past, they built beautiful buildings and now they can't afford to upkeep them. I've seen this in many old lodges and other types of buildings. Some are basically still functioning (Elks Lodges) but maybe 2 of the rooms are used and the rest is just rotting away. In the second picture, the ceiling is a gigantic stained glass part of the roof- It's beautiful.
thanks for the info
Love it, looks so haunted. I once performed in Trocadero Philadelphia and all kind of weird things happened and the only explanation I got from the tech guy was that the theatre was haunted :) hahah
