Straight, Tall, Burly, Double-Barrelled Beauty

Below are some captures of this magnificent tree that was straight as an arrow and had to be well over 50 feet tall. I believe it's a tulip tree and it was covered from bottom to top with these medium sized burls.

I was struck by its unusual beauty and just had to give it the spotlight here on Steemit. It was actually two similar-sized trunks that were forked off of a common base.

These photos were taken about three weeks ago in the Beech Glen area of Holmdel Park.

Notice how these two trees are all trunk with relatively little in the way of branches. Maybe the burls are where the branches should have been, who knows?

Adios! That was a local high school cross-country team practicing. The Holmdel Park Cross Country course is often the site of the New Jersey HS State Cross Country Championships and USATF NJ Cross Country Championships.
